Its A Colorful Life || Christmas 2021 Holiday Tour

You know the Holidays are officially here when Its A Colorful Life Holiday Tour hosted by Jennifer from Dimples and Tangles begins! I hope you’re in the mood for whimsical, colorful and unique holiday decor because these ladies are BRINGING it! If you came from Courtney Zig and Company’s home tour, welcome! Alrighty, lets get this show started!

Things have been a little busy over at SKG Designs so my elaborate holiday decorating got taken down a notch or 12 this year. Even though the Christmas village didn’t make it up this year or the basement decked out, I still have lots of bright and shiny additions on the inside AND outside this year. So lets talk about the outside.

It may come as a surprise to most of you that the outdoor decorating rests almost solely on my husband. It was his idea 7 or 8 years ago to put a wreath on every window and he started a trend. Now over half of the homes in our neighborhood put wreaths in their windows, It such an easy way to dress up your home but makes a huge statement! He’s also the one behind the Santa on our porch and the 10 foot inflatable Santa (not showm) on the side of our garage. He’s huge and he has camel toe therefore not worth of a photo.

Heading over to our backyard, now is the perfect time to utilize our firepit and outdoor kitchen. Last year we started a tradition of doing a hot coco and smores party and we’ve done it again this year! I used plaid throw blankets and pillows to made the chairs around the firepit more festive and then set up a hot coco bar with all the sweet treats in our outdoor kitchen. I love that our boys specifically requested us to do this again this year. Family traditions are the very best traditions.

If you’ve been here a while then you know we redid our laundry/mudroom early fall. So I couldn’t NOT add a little holiday cheer to the space. This is the last room, we see before we leave every day and the first we see when we get home so I decided to add one of my vintage light up Christmas trees to our drop off station and hung a little wreath because unlike my husband says, you can never have too many wreaths. Never.

Decorating the dining room for the holidays is one of my very favorite things to do. You know I love a good tablescape and layering in fabulous patterns, bright colors, and unexpected tablesacpe items makes all of our holiday meals a little more magical. Green and red to some people means Christmas but rich jewel tones means Christmas to me.

Are you like me and try to figure out how to turn your every day decor into holiday decor? I like to give myself that challenge every year. You know, keeps my brain young…or something. There’s plenty of that going no in our living room and it makes my heart happy.

This is the first year I decorated our bedroom for Christmas. I put a tree in the corner of our room, added more wreaths and switched up the bedding for a more festive look. I’m loving this vibe and now I feel like i want to keep it like this all the time!

Now I know you/re waiting for the epic reveal of the Christmas tree but friends, every time I tried to get a shot of the tree, it was cloudy and dark so you’re going to have to keep up to date on the gram and follow me there! I will leave you with this shot of Hank putting the star on the tree. Only took him three tries, one less than last year! Moving on up!

Thank you so much for hanging with me today. Don’t forget, this tour is happening all week! Check below for all the amazing ladies taking part in this merry and festive tour and check them all out! Merry Christmas friends!
